Hexes

In Yōkai Night, you can spend Season Coins 🪙 to put a hex on another player: a prank, or a tax on their coins.

Hex Price Cooldown Effect
👤 Nopperabō 20 🪙 30 min For 24 h the player is faceless: 👤 instead of their name, flair and title in messages, and “Faceless” with a blank face on pictures
🏮 Chōchin-obake 20 🪙 30 min For 24 h every guess they make gets a 🤪
🥒 Kappa’s dish 40 🪙 60 min On their next win that pays 🪙, you take 50% of it
🦊 Kitsune trick 30 🪙 60 min Their next wrong guess costs them up to 15 🪙, which simply vanish
  • Kappa and Kitsune wait until they go off, however long that takes. They only take 🪙 the player has: an empty purse loses nothing, but the hex is still used up.
  • A win that pays no 🪙 doesn’t set off a Kappa.
  • An Ofuda doesn’t stop a Kitsune: a forgiven miss is still a wrong guess.

Send /hex in the game topic or in a private chat with Nani Pix. She lists the hexes with their prices and cooldowns, and a menu of players to pick from, then the hex to cast. Only your own taps count on your menu.

You can also name them straight away: /hex @username opens the hex picker for that player, and /hex @username kappa casts at once (nopperabo, chochin, kappa or kitsune).

  • You and your target must have played this season: guessed in a season round, or hosted one.
  • Not yourself.
  • One hex per player at a time. Someone who’s already hexed can’t get another until theirs ends or goes off.
  • Each hex has its own cooldown, counted from your last cast of that kind.
  • The price is paid when you cast, even if an Omamori blocks it. Too few 🪙 and Nani Pix refuses.

Every hex is public: the game topic gets a card with the caster, the hex and the target. While a player is hexed, 💀 follows their name in the group’s messages. Kappa and Kitsune get another public line when they go off, held by quiet hours like other posts.

Hexes still open when the season ends are cancelled, with no refund.

/hexes shows whether you’re in, the hex on you and how long it has left, and your cooldowns.

  • /hexes off opts you out: nobody can hex you, and you can’t cast either. A hex already on you stays until it ends.
  • /hexes on brings you back.
  • You can’t opt out for 24 hours after hexing someone. Opting back in always works.

Hold an Omamori 🧿 and it blocks the next hex cast on you, by itself. The caster still pays, the Omamori is used up, and the game topic gets a card of the hex torn apart. Blocking a hex completes the Exorcist objective and climbs Curse Breaker.

An Omamori doesn’t stop the curse of an omikuji kyō slip. See Omikuji and charms for where to get one.
