Game settings

Each of the five stages has two settings: how wide the pixelated picture is (in blocks; fewer blocks means a harder picture) and how many wrong guesses it allows before the next stage. The defaults are:

StageWidthWrong guesses
1641
2801
31282
41923
55123
  • /stageconfig shows the current settings.
  • /setstageconfig sets all five stages at once, as width:guesses pairs from stage 1 to stage 5. The defaults would be: /setstageconfig 64:1 80:1 128:2 192:3 512:3
  • /setstage <stage 1-5> <width> <guesses> changes just one stage, for example /setstage 1 48 1 for an even harder start.

After a change, Nani Pix replies with the updated table, then sends two example pictures for each stage you changed, pixelated to the new width. The first one is captioned with the stage’s name, width and wrong-guess limit:

Stage settings can’t be changed while a round is being set up, played or voted on. Nani Pix refuses and offers the same buttons as /stop right there. Once the round is stopped, send the command again.

🔎 Stop and reveal only appears while a round is being played; for a round still being set up, or one being voted on, the choice is just yes or no, side by side.

How the colour of each block is picked isn’t an admin setting. Whoever starts a round chooses it in the preview, round by round (see Starting a round). The example pictures above use the default.

HARD MODE rounds have their own fixed rules and ignore these settings.

When a wrong guess shares whole words with the answer, Nani Pix reveals those words (see Guessing). She only does so once the matched words add up to enough letters.

  • /partialmatch shows the current setting (4 letters by default).
  • /partialmatch <letters> changes it. /partialmatch 0 turns partial reveals off.

Every pixel amount, from the reward for a wrong guess to the price of each clue and of /sharpen, can be changed:

  • /pixelconfig lists every setting as key — value — description, for example clue_tile — 100 — Clue: one unpixelated tile.
  • /pixelconfig <key> <value> changes one. The value is a whole number.

Not every value is allowed for every key:

  • A reward can be set to 0, which turns that reward off.
  • A price must be at least 1. Nani Pix refuses anything lower with “Prices must be at least 1 💠.”
  • clue_cashback_percent is a percentage from 0 to 100. Anything above 100 gets “Percentages must be between 0 and 100.”
  • clue_screenshot_step can be 0, which makes every extra screenshot cost the same.

Unlike the stage settings, these can be changed during a round. A change only affects what happens from then on.
