Guessing and stages

Guess with /guess <title> in the group’s game topic. Ordinary messages are never treated as guesses, so you can chat freely. Anyone in the group can guess, except the player who set up the round.

Nani Pix is forgiving about how you write the title:

  • Case and punctuation don’t matter: re zero matches Re:Zero.
  • Numbers and seasons are ignored: shingeki no kyojin wins Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2, and GITS wins GITS 2026. The round’s creator can make the numbers count for titles where they matter; the word season is ignored either way.
  • Any accepted title works: English, romaji, Japanese, Russian, or any synonym the creator added.
  • Small typos are fine: she accepts titles that are close enough.

A wrong guess gets a reply telling you how many tries are left on this stage, plus any pixels 💠 it just earned you (see Pixels and the clue shop). A winning guess shows its earnings under the reveal the same way.

/guess only works while a round is being played. With no round running, or while the group is voting on a HARD MODE round, Nani Pix says so instead:

  • Apostrophes are dropped, not turned into spaces: journeys matches Journey’s.
  • Full-width characters count as ordinary ones: FRIEREN is the same guess as frieren.
  • Roman numerals and ordinals are numbers too: a standalone I to XX, and ordinals like 2nd or 2-й, are ignored along with digits and the word “season”.
  • A guess made only of numbers never wins a title that has words. 2026 on its own doesn’t win GITS 2026.
  • Titles made only of numbers still work. For a title like 22/7, the numbers are all there is, so they’re kept: 22/7, 22 7 and 227 all win.

If your wrong guess shares whole words with the answer, Nani Pix shows the title with just those words spelled out, in the same reply:

  • Only words of three letters or more count, and together they need at least 4 matched letters by default. Your group’s admins can change that number or turn partial reveals off (see Game settings).
  • When the answer has several titles (English, romaji and so on), Nani Pix shows the one your guess matched best.
  • She never reveals the whole title this way. A guess that names every word of the title reveals nothing at all.
  • It’s still a wrong guess and still uses up a try. If that try was the stage’s last, the reveal appears in the caption of the next stage’s picture instead.
  • Once anything has been revealed this way, the 📏 Title shape clue is taken out of the shop for the rest of the round. Anyone who already bought it keeps it.

Each round starts at stage 1, the blockiest version of the screenshot. Every stage allows a set number of wrong guesses. Once they’re used up, Nani Pix posts the next, clearer stage. If the last try on stage 5 is wrong, the round ends unsolved.

With the default settings, the wrong guesses allowed per stage are:

11
21
32

53

So the round starts unforgiving and loosens as the picture gets clearer. Your group’s admins can change these numbers. Nani Pix’s replies always show the current stage’s tries as left/allowed.

A season may paint its games’ stage posts (and the /status picture) in its own style, for example as a watercolor. Only the pixelation changes how much you can see, never the style. The reveal video and clue images keep their own look, with no season style.

Nani Pix watches from the corner. Every round picture (the stages, /status, the reveal and the clue images) has her in the bottom-right corner, always sharp, and she reacts to how the round is going: casting her spell on stage 1, teasing you on the stages in between, shocked on the last one. When the answer is revealed she cheers if someone got it, looks sheepish if nobody did, and is shocked again when a HARD MODE vote opens. Opening a round she took by overthrow, she’s tossing the crown she just stole.

The picture also sharpens on its own. If nobody guesses for 3 hours Nani Pix sends a reminder, and after 6 hours without a guess she moves it to the next stage herself. Any guess resets that clock. Players can also pay to sharpen the picture early with /sharpen (see Pixels and the clue shop).

The current picture is always pinned in the game topic. If the chat ever looks out of step with Nani Pix (a picture that never arrived, a missing pin), send /status in the game topic. During a round, she posts the current stage’s picture again with a caption saying where things stand: the stage and the tries left on it, the bounty if there is one, how long until the round ends on its own, and the round’s number.

In a HARD MODE round it shows both screenshots and the turn instead of the stage. Between rounds there’s no picture to show, so /status says what’s going on: who is setting up the next round, that a vote is running, whose turn it is, or that anyone can start one.

/status only shows things. It never changes the round, and the picture it posts isn’t pinned: the pin stays on the round’s own stage post.
