Haunted rounds and the Night Parade

In Yōkai Night, a spirit may get into a round. When a season round goes live, Nani Pix rolls for it: about 1 round in 4 is haunted. The rest of the season’s rounds play as usual.

A haunted round gets one of four twists, picked at random. The twist changes the pixelated pictures you guess from, nothing else.

Twist What you see At the last stage
Kitsune illusion the picture is mirrored stays
Tanuki leaf the colours are bewitched clears
Yūrei double a ghostly double drifts over the picture clears
Kyōkotsu X-ray the picture is an X-ray negative clears
  • Stage 1’s caption announces the haunting: the twist, what it does, and the 🪙 bonus. /status says it again, for the picture you’re looking at.
  • On the last stage the Tanuki leaf, the Yūrei double and the Kyōkotsu X-ray lift, and the caption says so. Only the Kitsune mirror stays to the end.
  • The Reveal a tile clue shows the twisted picture too, so the tile you tap matches what you see.
  • The reveal is always clean: the video and the final picture show the real screenshot.

Every Season Coin 🪙 of a haunted round is doubled, for everyone in it: the winner, the host and each player’s first-guess bonus. Season XP stays the same.

Haunted wins also count toward:

  • the Bone Collector objective (win 2 haunted rounds) and the Ghost Hunter achievement (see Yōkai Night);
  • the Bone Collector set: 7 haunted wins assemble the ☠️ Mini Skeleton flair (see Bones);
  • 100 Candles: a haunted round snuffs 2 candles instead of 1.

31 October is the Night Parade, the whole day from midnight to midnight in the group’s time zone (the quiet-hours one, or UTC when none is set). On that day:

  • every round is haunted;
  • the theme is narrower: only mythology or supernatural anime can be played;
  • 🪙 are doubled again, on top of the haunting, so a Night Parade round pays ×4 🪙;
  • each finished round snuffs 3 candles for 100 Candles.

A round counts as a Night Parade round when it goes live that day, even if it ends after midnight.

Nani Pix posts in the game topic when the parade begins, with the day’s rules, and again at midnight when it’s over (her “sunrise” post). Quiet hours hold those posts like any other. Winning on the Night Parade climbs the Night Parade achievement.

The Night Parade only happens when the season runs on 31 October: admins, see Scheduling seasons.
