How a round ends

The first correct /guess wins the round. Nani Pix posts a short video in which the pixelated picture turns into the original screenshot, names the anime, and congratulates the winner, whose avatar appears in a gold badge. The same post lists what the win paid: the winner’s 💠, the round creator’s bonus for a well-pitched screenshot (for a win on stages 2–4), the bounty if anyone put one up, and the champion points the win added for the winner and the host.

The winner starts the next round. After 15 minutes Nani Pix reminds them in a private message. If she can’t message them (they’ve never started a chat with her), she mentions them in the game topic instead. If she can’t even name them (they have no @username), she posts this, so anyone can open the turn:

If they haven’t started within 12 hours, the turn opens to everyone and Nani Pix says so in the topic: “⌛ Nobody started a new game in time — it’s open to anyone now!”

When Nani Pix misses a right answer. If someone gave a correct answer under a name she didn’t recognise, the round’s creator can award them the win with /correct @username in the game topic, or just /correct to pick from a menu of the round’s guessers. It works only while the round is running, and only once somebody has guessed: it’s for a guess she missed, not a way to skip to the end. The creator can’t award the win to themselves or to Nani Pix, and she has to know the player: anyone who has ever written to her or chatted in the topic is fine, otherwise they need to message her first.

Every ending that shows the answer (a win, an unsolved round, /pass, and /stop with reveal) is followed by a second post, with no pin: an album captioned 🖼 Clues from this game. It holds every extra screenshot that was bought during the round, in the order they were handed out, in full quality and unpixelated. Refunded ones are in it too. In HARD MODE, the album starts with the other screenshot of the pair, since the video shows only one of them. More than 10 pictures go out as several albums, a single picture as a plain photo, and if there’s nothing to show, nothing is posted.

A round ends unsolved when:

  • the last try on stage 5 is a wrong guess,
  • nobody guesses on stage 5 for 6 hours, or
  • two days pass since the round went live, however many guesses were made, or
  • the group gives up with /pass (see below).

If nobody guesses for 3 hours, Nani Pix first nudges the topic. After 6 hours without a guess she posts the next, clearer stage by herself, so a round nobody touches still ends within 30 hours.

Nani Pix reveals the screenshot and the title with the same kind of video as a win, just without the gold badge. If the video can’t be made in time, you get the plain screenshot instead. The clue album follows it. Any bounty goes back to the players who put it up, and the reveal says so.

An unsolved round doesn’t hand the turn to anyone: if the turn was open, it stays open.

Nobody has a clue? Send /pass in the game topic to vote to give up. Send it again to take your vote back. The round’s host can’t vote, since they know the answer.

When enough players agree, the round ends unsolved right away, exactly like the two-day limit: the reveal, the bounty back to its contributors. “Enough” is half of the people who guessed or hosted a round in the last 24 hours, and never fewer than 3. Every reply shows the count, like 2/3.

Votes count for the current stage only: once a clearer picture comes up, the vote starts again. In HARD MODE, giving up still opens the usual vote for the closest guess when someone has guessed.

The round’s creator, or any group admin, can stop a round by sending /stop to Nani Pix in a private message. A round she started has no human creator, so only an admin can stop it. She always asks first:

  • 🛑 Yes, stop it ends the round quietly.
  • 🔎 Stop and reveal ends it and shows the group what the anime was, with the same reveal video as an unsolved round.
  • ❌ No, keep going leaves it running.

“Stop and reveal” is offered only for a round that’s already live in the topic. A round still being set up hasn’t shown anything to the group yet, so /stop just asks yes or no and cancels it.

A stopped round doesn’t count as a win or a loss. Any clues bought and any bounty are refunded in full, and the turn opens to everyone. This includes a HARD MODE round whose vote is still open: stopping it cancels the vote.

If it’s your turn and you don’t want to start a round, use /skip in the game topic:

  • /skip shows a menu. 🔓 Open to everyone opens the turn to all; any player on the menu gets the turn handed to them.
  • /skip @username hands it to someone specific without the menu. They get the same reminder and 12-hour window. As with /correct, Nani Pix has to know them, and you can’t hand the turn to her.

/skip only works while no round is running, and only for the player whose turn it is. When the turn is already open to everyone, there’s nothing to skip, and Nani Pix says so.

If the group’s admins have turned it on, Nani Pix can start rounds by herself:

  • When nobody starts one for 24 hours after the turn opened up.
  • Occasionally right after a round ends. There’s a small chance (about 1 in 8) that she “steals” the next turn. If you’ve just won, you still keep the win and everything it earned; you just don’t get to host the next round. Losing your turn this way does come with a consolation: a hidden achievement.

Rounds Nani Pix starts are always HARD MODE.

Your group may have quiet hours set, for example overnight. During them Nani Pix sends nothing on her own: no reminders, no automatic stage changes, no timeouts, no rounds of her own. Her timers are paused too, so quiet time doesn’t count towards them. Everything you do still works normally, including guessing and winning.
